Primary Care Physician

Description

Position Summary: The Physician will report to the Chief Medical Officer at the Clinic and work closely with the clinical team. The Physician  will be responsible for primary care functions at the clinic and providing culturally congruent primary and gender- affirming clinical care, screening patients for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and providing other medical  services. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing culturally congruent primary care, sexual health, and  gender care and be comfortable with harm reduction practices among people who actively use drugs.  

Responsibilities:

Perform primary care functions at Open Door Health.

Provide culturally congruent care to our diverse patient population, with a focus on individuals from the LGBTQ+ community.

Screen patients for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Perform accurate history and physical examinations.

Provide advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer.

Use electronic medical records and other database systems to provide accurate documentation of patient encounters.

Follow-up on test results to determine appropriate course of action and further treatment options.

Deliver a high quality of care while meeting expectations related to ongoing quality improvement.

Assist with other clinical and related public health activities identified by the CMO and executive director

Provide gender affirming care to our diverse patient panel.

Job Requirements

Experience
Previous experience providing care in ambulatory care settings. Previous experience providing gender affirming care and/or addiction medicine services is highly desirable. Experience providing culturally congruent and affirming care to sexual and gender minorities as well as racial and ethnic minorities.
Skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong communication skills. Able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Bi-lingual/bi-cultural Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapid growth in patient panels. Conversant in research terminology, capable supporting our ongoing research studies.
Education Required
Medical degree with current, non-probationary licensure in the State of Rhode Island. Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Medicine and Pediatrics required. Other specialties are welcome but not required.
