ADVOCACY FORUM

It is often difficult to track legislation and learn about scheduled hearings or votes. There are many nonprofits that would be interested in advocating for issues impacting their clients and neighbors.

So please share information about legislation that you are working on, upcoming hearings, sign on letters, opportunities to give input on regulations, etc.

You can also post questions about advocacy-related issues here. United Way's policy team is part of this Forum, and will answer what they can.

This Forum is for posting information and news from collaborative and collective impact efforts. Are you interested in letting other nonprofits know or join in these efforts? You can post general information about the initiative or information about upcoming events and opportunities to engage.

You can share about both local and national collaboratives that you are involved with.

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FORUM

This Forum is designed to be a place to post and learn about grant opportunities. Please do your own due diligence on any funder/application to determine whether it is a good fit for your organization.

We encourage you to post grant opportunities that you come across that might not be a good fit for your organization, but might be helpful for another RI nonprofit.

EXPLORING COLLABORATION FORUM

This is a space to find out if there are other nonprofits working in an issue area you are interested in or to see if anyone is interested in working together on an issue.

Information is posted in good faith. If you aren't looking for genuine collaboration, please don't post or hang out here. And if you see posts about particular ideas, respect the poster's intellectual property and work. You can help in making the idea a reality through collaboration, but it is not acceptable to take the idea and share it with others outside the Forum.

RESOURCE REQUESTS FORUM

This Forum is for you to crowdsource content resources, including templates, sample policies, better ways to approach operations challenges, etc.

Do you need an example of a remote work policy or maybe a survey used to evaluate a program? Are you looking for data on the effectiveness of permanent supportive housing. Post the request here.

This is not the place to look for funding or pro bono support. This is the place to share toolkits, templates, and content resources to save everyone from having to start from scratch in creating policies, finding data, etc.

If you share a quote, article, or resource, please include a link to the original source and give attribution/credit to the person who wrote or created it.

If you share a resource or something written/created by your own organization, please be explicit about any restrictions on usage or sharing. Unless otherwise noted, sharing of resources posted in Learning Community Forums is permitted as long as proper attribution/credit is given.

If you are looking for recommendations for a vendor (consultant, external communications manager, etc.), please post a query in the Service Recommendations Forum.

SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS FORUM

Have you had a great experience with a consultant, accountant, website developer, attorney, etc? Did you just discover a great product that organizes your email? Share your recommendations here. Please also note if you are willing to talk about your experience with the vendor, so that others can follow up with you (or not!).

Do not share recommendations unless you have worked personally with a vendor or product.

Please note: If you or your organization offer a fee-based product or service, this is not the place to advertise. You can post that information in the Nonprofit Marketplace Forum.

If you are looking for a paid service provider/vendor, feel free to ask for recommendations here.

This forum is not designed to be a Yelp-type review platform. It is designed to help nonprofits find qualified, talented professionals, not rate the entire field. If you had a bad experience with a vendor, this is not a place to vent. Please go to the vendor directly to give your feedback (or actually use Yelp!).

This Forum is for you to share information about podcasts that you have found interesting or helpful for nonprofit leaders or staff. Please include the full name of the podcast, and a link if possible.

Feel free to share podcasts that you have produced or appeared as a guest on, but this is not the space to ask for subscribers or advertise any internal or external media that requires a fee.

Please do not post political podcasts unless the episode you are sharing applies directly to issues faced by nonprofits.
