Nonprofits help turn young voices into action | Commentary

Some of the most important ideas that shape public policy do not begin at the State House.

They begin in classrooms, community centers and through intentional neighborhood conversations. They begin when Rhode Islanders facing challenges in their lives decide to speak up, and when others are willing to listen.

This perspective taught me something valuable: Those closest to the problems are often closest to the solutions.
