Get ready for Nonprofit Appreciation Month in November!

Saturday, November 7 2026

9 AM - 12 PM
Community education program

Presented by Neighbors Welcome! RI.

Neighbors Welcome! Rhode Island is bringing Strong Towns’ John Reuter to Rhode Island to unpack the often-confusing math behind local government finance and show how the way we build our communities shapes their financial future.

He'll explore how abundant homes and walkable communities can bolster municipal revenue and meet residents' needs.

In this training, you'll get an introduction to the core ideas behind the Strong Towns approach:

  • Understanding the relationship between development and public infrastructure.
  • Recognizing the difference between growth and lasting prosperity.
  • Asking better questions about the investments communities make.
  • Utilizing the Strong Towns financial decoder to visualize the financial trajectory of your city.
  • Helping decision makers understand how new development will impact their communities.

Growth done right builds lasting local wealth. When we prioritize high-value compact growth over low-density sprawl, new projects generate the funding required to maintain the streets, pipes, parks, and other basic services your town already has.
