Policies continue to be shaped even after laws are passed. Federal and state agencies play a significant role in determining how laws are implemented, how funding priorities are established, and how communities ultimately experience public policy. For human service organizations, administrative advocacy is a valuable way to influence how policies directly affect programs and communities.
This session will provide participants with a practical framework for navigating the administrative policymaking process and identifying opportunities for meaningful engagement. Participants will learn how rulemaking works, where organizations can provide input during regulatory and implementation processes, and how to monitor agency actions that may impact their work. The webinar will translate complex administrative processes into actionable advocacy strategies that organizations can implement, regardless of their size or policy expertise.
Participants will explore concrete strategies for responding to proposed regulations, analyzing agency priorities and guidance documents, and communicating community perspectives throughout the policymaking process. The session will also address common barriers to engagement, including complex jargon, compressed timelines, and limited organizational capacity. Participants will also take away practical approaches for sustaining advocacy efforts in rapidly evolving policy environments.
