Thank you for raising $5 million dollars for RI Nonprofits on 401Gives!
Presented by The Center for Effective Philanthropy
How are nonprofits faring — and how are they adapting — in the wake of these significant changes? What are they hearing from the communities they serve? What do nonprofits and communities need from funders — and how are funders responding?
We’ll hear creative ways leaders are responding in this moment both in the US and internationally. This lively conversation will be grounded in CEP’s most recently collected data on the current context and focus on actionable and practical insights.
Presented by Public Impact Forum
Communities are navigating complex challenges, and collaborative leaders are being asked to deliver strong programs while also pushing for deeper, longer-term systems change. Yet how to achieve “systems change” can often feel abstract, especially when teams are stretched, resources are tight, and you may be facing multiple urgent priorities.

Nonprofits depend on volunteers, interns, and contractors to expand capacity, deliver programs, and engage the community. These individuals bring energy and expertise, yet their involvement carries real legal risk. Misclassification claims, harassment allegations, and liability for injuries or misconduct can arise when roles are not clearly defined or properly supervised.
Casey Williams, partner and Chair of the Nonprofit Profit Practice Group at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, will join us for this webinar to explain the legal distinctions under California and federal law among volunteers, interns, employees, and contractors, including recent developments that affect how nonprofits structure these relationships. We will outline common pitfalls and practical tools to reduce exposure, such as waivers, training, background checks, and appropriate oversight. Attendees will gain clear guidance to strengthen compliance and support their missions.

Presented jointly with Democracy 2025, the Center on Faith and Justice, the ACLU, Institute for Constitutional Advocacy & Protection, Democracy Security Project, and the NGO Solidarity Network.
This webinar is geared towards faith leaders, although it is open to the entire Democracy 2025 community. Faith leaders increasingly find themselves navigating interactions with law enforcement—at houses of worship, during pastoral care, at public witness events, or in moments of crisis. This training will equip clergy and faith leaders with a clear understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities when engaging with federal agents. This webinar will provide practical information on what to expect, ways to respond, and lawful ways to protect both yourself and your community—grounded in current law and real-world scenarios. The training will also address best practices for preparedness, de-escalation, and faithful public witness in challenging moments.
