But when your board feels out of sync or unsure of its next steps, progress stalls, and opportunities slip through the cracks. So, here’s the big question: is your board ready to lead with purpose and vision?

The Nonprofit Credential in Board Governance is here to help you turn a good board into a great one. Imagine a boardroom where every member is engaged, aligned, and ready to tackle challenges head-on. Nonprofit Resilience Hub program in partnership with Forefront (Illinois nonprofit network)

In a moment defined by constant change and high stakes, nonprofit leaders are being asked to guide others while navigating uncertainty themselves. This 90‑minute webinar supports Executive Directors and senior leaders in staying grounded, thoughtful, and values‑aligned amid constant change and incomplete information. Participants will explore how to slow down reactive decision-making, communicate transparently without having all the answers, and maintain trust with staff, boards, funders, and communities. The session blends reflection, practical frameworks, and real-world communication strategies tailored to nonprofit leadership realities. Leaders will leave better equipped to offer steadiness, clarity, and purpose—even when the path forward is still emerging.

Learning Outcomes

  • Techniques for grounding themselves and their teams to reduce fear‑based reactions in times of uncertainty
  • Strategies for creating space between information, interpretation, and response when change is constant
  • Approaches for communicating clearly and transparently when answers are still unfolding
  • Guidance on tailoring messages for different audiences while staying rooted in mission and values
  • Practical tools and frameworks to support decision-making and communication in real time

Challenging conversations are inevitable in any team, but how we approach them can make the difference between conflict and connection. Emotionally Intelligent Communication (EQ-Comms) offers a powerful framework rooted in neuroscience to help teams foster trust, improve collaboration, and transform difficult discussions into productive outcomes.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to navigate high-stakes conversations with confidence, regulate emotional responses, and build psychological safety within their teams. Through interactive exercises and real-world applications, attendees will practice active listening, reframing conflict, and using EQ-Comms strategies to strengthen relationships. By the end of the session, teams will walk away with practical tools to engage in open, constructive dialogue and create a workplace culture where every voice is heard and valued.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the core principles of Emotionally Intelligent Communication (EQ-Comms) and their role in fostering trust, collaboration, and psychological safety in teams.
  • Apply strategies for regulating emotional responses during high-stakes or conflict-based conversations to promote constructive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate active listening, reframing, and perspective-taking skills through structured practice and interactive exercises.
  • Use EQ-Comms tools and frameworks to navigate difficult conversations while maintaining connection and respect.
  • Develop a personal action plan to integrate emotionally intelligent communication practices into daily team interactions and organizational culture.
