Virtual session presented by Minnesota Council of Nonprofits

Leaders know that the most important assets in their organization log off and go home at the end of every day – and one day – they won’t come back. Whether due to retirement or resignation, for happy or sad reasons, a Knowledge Exodus is inevitable. To sustain your impact and avoid the frustration of having to relearn how to succeed, nonprofit organizations must understand the value of their team’s knowledge and proactively preserve it.

In this session, we’ll explore how to identify and preserve institutional knowledge. Attendees will learn proven frameworks and practice building a prioritized action plan. By the end of the session, attendees will have their own roadmap and know the specific next step to take to reduce their risk.

This workshop is designed for nonprofit leaders who want to strengthen their organization’s resilience and reduce single points of risk. No need for a new platform or big initiative. Just simple, strategic steps your team can take starting now.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Describe and prioritize the specific people and institutional knowledge that matters most to their success
  • Select the best tools and approaches to preserving wisdom – most of which they likely already own and use
  • Build 30-day and 12-month plans for knowledge retention that are achievable and impactful

Alliance members are eligible for MCN member rate of $95.

With major changes to the Voting Rights Act reshaping the 2026 voter engagement landscape, nonprofits need clear guidance on what’s changed—and what has stayed the same. Join voting rights experts, advocates, and nonprofit leaders for a timely conversation unpacking the recent Callais case, its impact on redistricting and voter representation, and what communities can expect moving forward. We’ll cover the basics of the VRA and gerrymandering, which states may be affected, ongoing litigation, and long-term strategies to protect fair representation. Most importantly, we’ll focus on what nonprofits should be doing right now ahead of elections just months away—including voter registration, voter education, GOTV, and election protection efforts that remain as critical as ever.
